About Us
The Environment Council is the leading charity dedicated to the authentic engagement of people to accomplish a sustainable society.

We design, deliver and evaluate stakeholder and community engagement on environment and sustainable development issues.

In the 1990s, we pioneered stakeholder engagement, learning from our experience working with Shell on the decommissioning of Brent Spar. We developed the Principles of Authentic Engagement which underpin consultation practices in the private and public sectors. In addition, we led the development of evaluation methods to review the effectiveness of engagement processes.

Today we work with a wide range of groups all over the UK. We’re helping fishing communities work to save the sea’s natural resources for the future. We’re helping shoppers influence more environmentally friendly products on the shelves. Funding from our partners and through charitable donations makes it possible for us to continue our important work.

We’re currently raising funds for our work on marine conservation (the PISCES project) and involving the public in future energy decisions and policies (The Big CO2nversation).

Please help us by making a donation and recycling your old mobile phones with us.
