Aggregates Industries biodiversity action plan

In Autumn 2006 we worked with Aggregates Industries and their key biodiversity stakeholders to review the company’s strategies and plans in relation to biodiversity in the UK.

The company had published a Biodiversity Action Plan in 2002, which was a pioneer in many ways.  At the time it was produced with limited engagement with stakeholders.  With the plan needing to be reviewed for 2007-2012 the company wanted to take the opportunity to engage the experience of key stakeholders to explore and inform the development of the next plan.  They also wanted to use the opportunity to:

Build an understanding of the priorities of key stakeholders in biodiversity in the UK
Identify what key stakeholders may expect from a company like Aggregate Industries with respect to biodiversity
Scope priority issues and potential objectives for this work

A workshop was held in November 2006 as a key component of the engagement process.  The outputs from the workshop will now be developed into a draft plan that will go out for wider consultation before the plan is published in late Spring 2007.
