Brighton & Hove City Council Local Strategic Partnership Climate Change Strategy Stakeholder Day
The Environment Council was contacted by Brighton & Hove City Council on behalf of their Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) to design and deliver a one-day workshop to develop their Climate Change Strategy. This involved working with the LSP to identify the aims and objectives of the day and to design a process for over 60 stakeholders to collaboratively achieve them. The day focused on establishing understanding of participants’ vision for the city in 2050, identifying key strategic areas of focus to mitigate climate change and begin action planning. Participants on the day expressed a high degree of confidence in the outcomes of the day and indicated that they felt highly engaged throughout the event.
It is a huge challenge for Local Authorities to successfully engage with the wider community and other stakeholders, and to determine a collaborative strategy that will address a complex issue like climate change. The Environment Council’s participatory and inclusive approach to strategic planning helps organisations address these highly complicated issues and provides a structured and outcomes-focussed process to help achieve their aims.
