Carbon Café
Winter Season - Communicating Climate Change launched featuring Carbon Café >>
The Carbon Café creates a space where people can come together to talk about what a carbon limited future might mean to them and what their response should be.
The format is adaptable to many different situations. It can run over a 2 hour time period or for a whole day depending on the context and the outcome requirement. It can involve 20 people or 100 providing the venue is appropriate.
The key input is a series of questions that the participants explore. Other important features include:
| > | A framework which enables evolving rounds of dialogue within a single, larger connected conversation |
| > | The conversation begins with the creation of a common understanding of what is going on and why it matters |
| > | Participants then consider what are the implications and opportunities for the business, their work units and individual staff |
| > | Discussion is held in multiple rounds of 20-30 minutes |
| > | The event is concluded with a plenary |
| > | The outcome includes the identification of organisational challenges and ideas to help meet them |
The café process can be used to address particular issues with specific groups of participants such as offsetting or supply chain issues.
