Conservation and Biodiversity
The Environment Council works to help people to find solutions within a wide range of environmental issues. While many of these projects unsurprisingly relate directly to the sustainability of human activities themselves, the organisation is proud to have a focus on conservation and biodiversity as part of its work.
One current project relating to conservation that is likely to be of topical interest to many people relates to the recovery of wild bird populations. This aims to harmonise the growth of a raptor population with other interests within the environment in which they thrive. The Environment Council is working with stakeholders to help them to find a solution.
The Hen Harrier Dialogue aims to find some common ways forward to resolve the issue of hen harrier population growth and balance it with grouse moor managers’ needs in England. Please click here to find out more about this dialogue.
The Environment Council has also supported biodiversity initiatives by supporting and enabling strategy planners to effectively involve their stakeholders in the development of biodiversity strategy. One example of this is the work that The Environment Council has done with Aggregate Industries to support its efforts to review its biodiversity action plan. Please click here to find out more.
