Environment Agency Wales Fisheries Enforcement and Regulation Stakeholder Engagement

In 2006 the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) requested that Environment Agency Wales (EAW) consult stakeholders on fisheries enforcement and regulation in Wales and to report back to WAG with opportunities for improvement.  We designed and facilitated six workshops for the fishing community around Wales.

The workshops were open to the public, with nearly 200 attending. We then carried out a final one-day workshop for EAW enforcement staff to review the outputs from the stakeholder workshops and discuss how the staff themselves felt the enforcement and regulation could be improved.

The outputs from the stakeholder and staff workshops were used by the EAW management team to develop opportunities for improvement in a report for WAG.
