House of Commons Parliamentary Reception on the Energy Review

On Wednesday 7 June 2006, The Environment Council hosted a parliamentary reception in the House of Commons. The Right Honourable John Gummer MP was our gracious host, and we enjoyed lively addresses from John, Tony Juniper of Friends of the Earth, and TEC’s CEO, Mike King.

The hot topic of conversation that evening was the role of stakeholder engagement in relation to the Energy Review. It is TEC’s view that, no matter how the UK’s energy mix is comprised, robust and timely engagement with all relevant stakeholders is the best way to reach the most sustainable decisions for our country’s energy future. It was a very informative and enjoyable evening for those who joined us, which was only made more exciting by the biohazard security scare that kept us locked outside of Central Lobby for some time after the event.
