Our work with the corporate sector
Our history of working with the corporate sector goes back a long way, when the Business Sustainability Forum of The Environment Council was first launched in the late 1980s to gather a group of 'responsible companies seeking to define and promote business practice that will deliver a sustainable future’.
Robust and quality engagement with the corporate sector continues to be an important part of our focus and expertise. We have helped companies solve disputes, understand and embed sustainability, engage with their key stakeholders - employees, suppliers, NGOs, communities, regulators and government - and build their capacity for genuine engagement.
Most companies nowadays recognise stakeholder engagement as a key means to better understand their business environment, build trust, manage risk, drive innovation and secure their licence to operate. We leverage our expertise as the pioneer of stakeholder dialogue to accompany them in this process and help them engage in the most efficient and authentic way.
As well as working with individual companies on projects, we operate a Corporate Partners Programme. Our Corporate Partners are forward looking sustainability practitioners across a wide range of industries committed to progress collective thinking and action for a better future. The programme provides us with essential funding to further our charitable objectives and advocacy role while offering companies a unique relationship with The Environment Council and access to an annual events programme featuring leading experts and opinion leaders on current issues as well as networking opportunities with a cross-sectoral club of peers.
