National Resource and Waste Forum convenor

In the mid nineties, a DTI report on the UK’s waste management industry highlighted the lack of public engagement and confidence in waste management and recycling processes.

In 2001 The Environment Council (TEC) was commissioned to convene the National Resource and Waste Forum (NRWF). The NRWF is a membership-led organisation, which aims to represent all those involved in the process of waste and resource management. It is open to all interested bodies that have a commitment to realising its aims.

The NRWF brings together disparate organisations to tackle the contentious issues around sustainable waste and resource management. TEC ensures that the critical issues are identified, all viewpoints heard and all sectors represented

Through TEC’s convening, the NRWF has become a national, cross-sectoral and, most importantly, independent body meeting regularly to achieve sustainable waste and resource management. It is, uniquely, a neutral space where everyone has an equal voice.
