NRWF Household Waste Prevention Toolkit
In August 2004, after 3 years development, the Household Waste Prevention toolkit has been the first substantive output from the National Resource and Waste Forum (NRWF). The Environment Council is the convenor of the NRWF, which aims at moving towards a UK Household Waste Prevention Framework.
Updated in July 2006, the toolkit is now available on line on WRAP’s website. This toolkit is designed to provide guidance to local authorities and community organisations in developing and implementing waste prevention strategies at a local level. It is an easy-to-apply set of guidelines, which brings together the best of good practice gathered from a nationwide study of local community experience.
Containing practical advice and guidance on the options available and the steps needed to achieve success, it:
| > | Describes the environmental, economic and social benefits resulting from well-managed waste prevention initiatives |
| > | Outlines how initiatives can be set up and their impact measured |
| > | Focuses on specific, proven approaches to waste prevention |
| > | Explains how to ensure local households respond positively |
