Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, National Stakeholder Group

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) was established in April 2005 to ensure that the UK’s nuclear legacy is cleaned up safely, securely, cost effectively and in ways that protect the environment for current and future generations.  To accomplish this remit, the NDA recognises the need to establish an open and interactive relationship with its stakeholders.  Please click on the following link to view the NDA’s Stakeholder Charter.

The NDA therefore established a National Stakeholder Group (NSG) to enable stakeholders to explore issues and submit proposals for consideration by the NDA and, or, its contractors.  The group’s membership is composed of national and international organisations, the NDA Site Stakeholder Groups (SSGs) and the NDA.  Please click on the following link to view the NDA Arrangements for Stakeholder Engagement.

The Environment Council was appointed by the NDA as the convenor of the National Stakeholder Group at the group’s inception for the initial phase of its operation (until autumn 2006).  The group was convened approximately twice a year during this period, in order to gain updates on the NDA’s current activities and to have the opportunity to ask questions and comment on aspects of its work and strategy: the aim of the group being to inform and influence the NDA’s decision-making.

The National Stakeholder Group is open and transparent about its discussions.  Reports from the meetings of the NSG during this initial phase are available below.  The group continues to meet and further information including the reports from the process can be found on the NDA website.
