Why is TEC different?

There has been an encouraging growth in new consultancies and individuals increasingly skilled in stakeholder engagement. The Environment Council’s early aims in the 1990s was to build awareness amongst decision makers of the benefits of a more collaborative approach (born out by the increasing demand for this type of work); to equip individuals with the skills to meet that demand via our training courses; and to demonstrate practically through our project work the ways in which a more collaborative approach to environmental decision making can reap rewards.

So why get in touch with The Environment Council?

>   Capability and experience to facilitate and convene every size of projects – from locally based issues to multinational /international issues required the specific convening skills for integrated public policy making
> Ability to draw on a range of tools and techniques to suit every decision making challenge from our own expertise and from our partners
> Knowledgeable in a wide range of sustainability situations, and adept at understanding not only the content and context but the best tools to employ to maximise the best outcome
> Our independence is crucial, by which we mean we will not take a view on the “best outcome” or work towards one outcome as favoured by one party. We work on behalf of all stakeholders, even if one party funds a project.  Our reputation is built and depends on demonstrating this in every project
> We explicitly want to build your own and others capacity to do more of this work by yourselves.  We are not a consultancy looking for the next “resale”
> Whatever surpluses we make we plough back in to identifying and progressing new sustainability issues that would benefit from collaborative approaches and raising awareness. We work where consultancies would find it uneconomical to go
